WSPCHS Sofia 2019 Conference Guide

We welcome you to the First Joint Meeting of the European Congenital Heart Surgeons Association (ECHSA) and the World Society for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery (WSPCHS) taking place in Sofia, Bulgaria June 20-22, 2019! The venue is the spectacular National Palace of Culture in the historic city of Sofia, Bulgaria’s Capital.

This historic meeting brings together pediatric and congenital heart surgeons and colleagues from related specialties, from both Societies, from Europe and from all
continents of the world, all in a spirit of mutual respect and cooperation.

The invited faculty consists of world-renowned experts and the Scientific Program features presentations on major clinical issues in congenital heart surgery, clinical and database research, the traditional best-worst case presentations, video sessions, and oral and poster abstract presentations.

The Multidisciplinary Post-Graduate Course on the “Management of the Critically Ill Neonate and Infant” will provide an up to date overview on numerous high-risk
lesions that challenge all of us in our practice.

A unique new feature of this Congress is the innovative Hands-On Surgical Simulation Workshop, using 3D Printed Cardiac Models to teach the technique of “The Arterial Switch Operation for Transposition of the Great Arteries”. This workshop represents a fantastic opportunity for more junior colleagues to practice the arterial switch operation on accurate 3D printed models of the hearts of babies with transposition, under the guidance of established experts in the field.

This first ever Joint ECHSA/WSPCHS Meeting is a fantastic and unique opportunity to exchange scientific information, network, establish friendships, professional
connections, and build new collaborations between these sister organizations for the benefit of our patients across the world!
